Legazpi City - Mr. Ronaldo Olivo, 46 yrs. old, the very first client of DOLE Bicol's One Stop Service Center for OFWs (OSSCO) is a 10-year OFW stationed at Qatar and Saudi Arabia in the Middle East.
"Bibili ako ng mga pang regalo at pang luto tapos nakita ko madameng tao tapos may nakalagay OFW. Nagtanong tanong ako at ang natanong ko pa yun direktor daw ng DOLE. Siya nagsabi sakin na bukas na daw ito," Mr. Olivo said beaming during the DOLE Bicol OSSCO Launching on 16 December 2016, 9:00am at the 3rd floor Pacific Mall, Legazpi.
On vacation at his house in Brgy. Dita, Legazpi City, Mr. Olivo waited for the program of the OSSCO Grand Launching to finally finish. After several messages from partner agencies, Congressmen and local executives, at about 11:00am, Mr. Olivo was the very first to enter and avail the services of the newly opened office. He went directly to the table of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) to inquire on how to process his work documents as he is about to transfer from the middle east to a much “greener pasture” in Africa . After a couple of minutes with the BI officer he went out of the OSSCO "happy" and elated that such unified service already exists in Bicol.
"Napaka comportable nito. Biruin mo andito na lahat madale ng mag ayos ng mga papeles" he added.
Government Convergence is Real.
DOLE Bicol OIC regional director and RCC Chairperson Atty. Ma. Karina Perida Trayvilla said that the DOLE Bicol OSSCO office is a living proof that Government Convergence and the Bicolano “Bayanihan” spirit does exist not only within the DOLE RCC but also among all member government agencies and political subdivisions in Bicol.
“This OSSCO could not have happened if not for the support of all our partner agencies and local officials here with us today. Truly, we showed the world that in Bicol when it comes to public service everybody is willing to help,” DOLE Bicol OIC regional director Atty. Ma. Karina Perida-Trayvilla added.
Just a few minutes after Mr. Olivo left OSSCO, the second client, Ms. Julie Anne France, 30-yrs. old, single, who came all the way from the Province of Sorsogon, came in to inquire about her Overseas employment Certificate (OEC). She needed the OEC to go back to Malaysia on December 30.
“My half-month vacation started last December 14 and it will end soon. I wanted to inquire if I could get an OEC here. This is a great help to us (OFWs) at least this is easier and very convenient. I’ve been an OFW for 9-years and processing documents is sometimes gruelling due to the fact that offices are far. I used to get an OEC in Manila,” Ms. France stressed.
It can be recalled that the DOLE Bicol OSSCO materialized thru the help of the City Government of Legazpi, Provincial Government of Albay, AKO Bicol Partylist, Hon. Congressman Joey Salceda, Pacific Mall Legazpi and the equal financial contribution of the OSSCO-RCC member agencies.
The OSSCO is aimed at serving OFWs and would-be OFWs especially in the fast processing of their documents.
The leg work of the DOLE Bicol OSSCO was facilitated by DOLE Provincial Office Albay Officer-In-Charge (OIC) Ma. Ella E. Verano as instructed of course by DOLE Bicol OIC regional director Atty. Ma. Karina Perida-Trayvilla.
"Thank you very much to everyone who helped. Indeed this is a statement that here in Bicol we are solid when it comes to providing our services" DOLE Bicol OIC regional director Atty. Ma. Karina Perida-Trayvilla said. - fin.
