Labo, Camarines Norte- Some P1.5M worth of livelihood package, consisting of small hand tools, materials and equipment, covering 239 beneficiaries from five (5) Barangays in Labo, Camarines Norte was distributed by DOLE Bicol late last month.
In a report to DOLE Bicol regional director Atty. Ma. Karina Perida-Trayvilla, by DOLE Cam. Norte Provincial head Ms. Jane L. Rolda, the livelihood package distribution was done in the Barangay itself.
“They (beneficiaries) were very happy of their new livelihood. Some even shed tears of joy.” DOLE Cam. Norte Head Jane Rolda shared.
The livelihood grant was distributed as follows: Brgy. Macogon-70 beneficiaries with a budget of P465,927.43; Brgy. Bagacay-46 beneficiaries with P313,644.19; Brgy. Bautista-59 with P397,348.32; Brgy. Pangpang-25 with P 101,073.08 and Brgy. Pag-Asa-39 with P270,013.57.
The livelihood packages distributed were identified based on the skills of beneficiaries which includes start-up materials for food preparation, capentry, welding, vulcanizing, appliance repair, dressmaking, tailoring, bag making, cosmetology, electronics technician, automotive mechanic, car wash, haircut servicing and beauty care.
The distribution of the livelihood package is part of the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) which aims to provide an alternative livelihood to identified beneficiaries.
“It can be recalled that last year, twelve (12) Barangays here took interest in our livelihood program to help their disadvantaged but skilled constituents to rise from poverty. So far we have already granted 9 out of this 12 Barangays here,” DOLE Bicol regional director Atty. Ma. Karina Perida-Trayvilla ended. (with report from Cyre Cabredo, Sr. LEO, DOLE Cam. Norte)
