37 MORE ENDO WORKERS REGULARIZED IN BICOL THIS OCTOBER

Legazpi City– “The number of regularized ENDO workers continues to rise here in Bicol expect that there will be more by the end of the year,” DOLE Bicol regional director Rovelinda A. Dela Rosa assured members of the tri-media here yesterday that the “ENDO Program” has not stopped nor slowed down but has in-fact geared-up.

In a report recently submitted to DOLE Secretary Silvestre H. Bello, III by DOLE Bicol regional director Rovelinda A. Dela Rosa, DOLE Bicol, in the first week of October has registered an additional thirty seven (37) workers who have been voluntarily absorbed by two (2) local companies in Legazpi and in Naga City.

“This is in addition to our current tally of 3,293 workers we have already regularized,” DOLE Bicol regional director Rovelinda A. Dela Rosa added.

Fourteen (14) of the 37 voluntarily regularized workers came from a hotel in Naga City while twenty three (23) came from a security agency in Legazpi City. The workers from the hotel have been employed since 2013 under an agency and it is only now that they have been absorbed and was given a permanent status by the principal with appointment papers retro-active from the time of their deployment while the security guards have been serving for more than a year and was just confirmed their appointment after DOLE Bicol’s ENDO Program.

“Eu na po sir, totoo pig regular na kame. Salamat po! (Yes sir it was true we have been regularized. Thank You)” a lady guard who doesn’t want to be identified told DOLE Bicol during confirmatory interview.

This year, based on records, 402 workers were absorbed and regularized voluntarily by their principals while 2,240 were regularized thru the issuance of compliance orders. Meanwhile, last year 366 were voluntary regularized during Mandatory Conference while 285 during plant level assessment.

‘We are projecting more to be regularized at least before the end of this year. Rest assured that we will be vigilant in this ENDO campaign,” DOLE Bicol regional director Rovelinda A. Dela Rosa said. – fin (with reports from Jekyl Fae Bermeo, JO-Med Arb Unit).
