DOLE Bicol Grants P4.3M Livelihood during ‘Serbisyo Caravan Para Sa Masa’ in Labo, Cam. Norte

Labo, Camarines Norte– “Aside from the livelihood grant, we also gave bags to former child laborers as part of our Project Angel Tree Program,” DOLE Bicol regional director Rovelinda A. Dela Rosa told local media here on Friday afternoon right after the last leg of the 2-day “Serbisyo Caravan Para Sa Masa”.


Said event catered not only the livelihood and anti-child labor program of DOLE Bicol but other government services from over 25 government agencies which ran for 2-days starting with the first leg on September 21 at the Labo, Convention Center and finishing with the second leg at the basketball court of Brggy. Exciban, Labo, Camarines Norte servicing nine (9) Barangays Maot, Pag-Asa, Baay, Malibago Malaya, Exciban, Cabatuhan, Dumagmang and Macugon from said municipalities.


The event’s Guest of Honor was DOLE Assistant Secretary Federico V. Abuan, Jr., which graced the activity on the first leg (see separate story).


“It is not only us (DOLE) which gave services, other government agencies also offered numerous services. It was a very successful event. We really brought government services closer to the people,” DOLE Bicol regional director Rovelinda A. Dela Rosa stressed.


In the 2-day event, DOLE Bicol released a total of P4.3M livelihood grant with 246 beneficiaries and distributed school bags and educational supplies to 200 former child laborers. The grant released by DOLE Bicol on the first day covering Barangays Maot, Pag-Asa, Baay and Malibago totalled to P1,669,979.00 with 94 Beneficiaries while 87 foremer child laborers received school bags and goodies. On the second day, which covers Barangays Malaya, Exciban, Cabatuhan, Dumagmang, and Macugon, DOLE Bicol released a total of P2,713,962.00 livelihood grant while 113 former child laborers received school bags and supplies.


Aside from these DOLE Bicol grants, the “Serbisyo Caravan Para Sa Masa” offered services such as free medical-dental from AFP, PNP, DOH and PCSO, Feeding program from LGU Labo, PG Cam. Norte, PG Albay, DPWH and Bicol University, Rolling Store from NFA, Provision of Educational Supplies to supplement DOLE’s Project Angel Tree from DILG, DOST, provision of teaching aids from Bicol University, provision of food packs to former child laborers  from MGB, disbursement of 4Ps pay-out, distribution of assorted seedlings by DA and free grooming services such as haircut, manicure, pedicure and massage from Phil. Army.


“It was a convergence activity. A living proof that the government is really moving as one. Which is what our beloved Secretary Silvestre H. Bello, III was reiterating to us to converge with other Government Agencies,” DOLE Bicol regional director Rovelinda A. Dela Rosa said - fin.
