P16M livelihood grants for 1k Albay, Cam Sur benes

 

Legazpi City – “The ball is in your hands now,” told Regional Director Exequiel R. Sarcauga of the Department of Labor and Employment Bicol to all recipients of the livelihood grants in Albay and Camarines Sur as he led the awarding of checks during Job Fair in celebration of Labor Day last May 1 at Pacific Mall, Legazpi City.

A total of P16M worth of livelihood assistance was distributed to ten (10) barangays and local government unit-proponents (LGUs) in Albay and Camarines Sur during the first day of the two-day Trabaho, Negosyo at Kabuhayan (TNK) Jobs and Business Fair.

At least five (5) livelihood projects were given to Albay beneficiaries consisting of Business Kits for Barangays Matambo and San Agustin in Oas town and Napo, Polangui. DOLE Kabuhayan Starter Kit was also provided to Taysan, Legazpi City. Livelihood Enhancement and Business Kits was likewise given to Brgy. Alnay, Polangui.

Camarines Sur has received five (5) livelihood projects amounting to PhP9M including DOLE Kabuhayan Program – Nego Kart and Starter Kit for LGU Tigaon; Rice Mill Project for Brgy. Bagong Bong, Minalabac; DOLE Kabuhayan Starter Kit for LGU Bato; Kabuhayan Starter Kit for Brgy. Dahilig, Gainza and; Clean-up Drive and De-clogging of Drainage Canals under Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers Program (TUPAD) under 2016 BuB Funds for LGU Sipocot.

At least 750 beneficiaries from Camarines Sur received livelihood assistance.

Meanwhile, he reminded the beneficiaries that the amount they received came from the taxes of the Filipino people. Adding to this, he said, “not everybody receives this kind of assistance, kaya make sure that this money goes to the betterment of every beneficiary within the community.”

Sarcauga encouraged all recipients to level up their living conditions after benefitting from said grants.

“Binaba namin ang fund na iyan because you’re telling us na ito ang kailangan ninyo para mabuhay. Sana naman ipakita ninyo sa amin na months from now, kayo ay buhay na buhay na,” he said.

Recipients include marginalized farmers, unemployed, and youth. /jveg/
