The provision of these tools and materials are for those who like to start their individual livelihood undertaking and those who have been producing goods and providing services but were not able to purchase tools.

This aims to create employment, improve the productivity of disadvantaged skilled workers and augment their family income.

“This maybe your primary or additional source of income, but one thing is sure, it would augment the income of the family to meet at least their basic needs,” stressed Imelda Romanillos, PFO Albay Head

She added that DOLE is also providing consultancy service, the recipients can request for capability building activities that may enhance their skills to ensure project sustainability.

“Don’t hesitate to visit us in our office especially when you are encountering difficulties in your business because we are here to assist you. We need to monitor you to improve the project. After all, our goal is to sustain your projects/ business,” she guaranteed.

Further, Romanillos encouraged the beneficiaries to show good results of their projects after months or years of operation.

“Part of your responsibility is to implement and sustain your individual projects,” Romanillos told the beneficiaries during the awarding.

Meanwhile, Ryan Llona, 23 of Brgy. Taysan expressed gratitude when he received the therapy supplies and materials.

He is an automotive graduate but studied in the Alternative Learning System to get skills for massage therapy.

“These materials for therapy are very useful to me as I accept massage and therapy jobs here in our barangay,” Llona said.

With the materials and supplies, Llona added that her usual P200 per client earnings is expected to increase.

Analiza Del Mundo, 43, who has a sari-sari store in front of her house, received a sewing machine as well as scissor, safety pin, office pin, sewing needles, measuring tapes, sewing tools and craft sewing material supplies.

She worked as a seamstress handling high-speed sewing machines in Manila before she left the province. However, having five (5) children left in the province, she decided to return to Legazpi and chose to work near home to attend to her children needs.

Her husband is working in a construction industry wherein income is not sufficient to address the needs of his family.

“I’m so grateful for this Kabuhayan Kit I received from DOLE. Aside from the earnings I get from sari-sari store, I can now accept sewing services wherein I can make curtains, uniforms and others. Additional income indeed!”, Del Mundo shared.

One of the youngest recipients of beauty care supplies is Jenny Atento, 24 of Brgy. Taysan. Atento has one child so extra source of income is necessary.

She said she will use the beauty care and foot spa supplies to provide services like nail care in form of manicures and pedicures. In return, she will get extra income that made her feel even more grateful.

Livelihood or Kabuhayan Program is a component of the DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program which grants assistance for capacity-building on livelihood for the poor, vulnerable and marginalized workers.
