Camarines Norte – Displaced from work? DOLE offers Kabuhayan!

Some 75 workers from hospitals, water company and construction firms in Camarines Norte who were laid-off from their respective companies will be receiving livelihood assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Bicol through its Camarines Norte Field Office.

An orientation was held last January 10, 2020 at Pinyasan Kiosk, Daet, Camarines Norte to the affected workers on livelihood assistance and emergency employment under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP).

Ms. Renalyn Alano, livelihood focal conducted ‘needs analysis’ to the participants that aided them in the identification of assistance and support they can avail from DOLE.

“Given the discussion on the aspects of business operations, would-be beneficiaries were able to prepare their individual business plan for their proposed livelihood projects,” said Ms. Alano.

Fifty-two-year-old Mr. Marsan Palomares, who was terminated from being a plumber at Prime Water Corp expressed his gratitude and big hope upon learning about the DILP.

“We are thankful with the DOLE for spearheading this activity intended to address on the need for employment or income generation in the form of livelihood,” Palomares said.

Target participants were referred by the Bukluran ng Manggagawang Pilipino (BMP) Camarines Norte Chapter to DOLE Camarines Norte Provincial Office which aims to help displaced workers access employment and livelihood assistance upon separation from their employment and which reinstatement can no longer be possible.

Regional Director Joel M. Gonzales emphasized that the Kabuhayan Prpgram requires association to register at DOLE and establish track record to avail the program under group category.

However, he added that DILP also provides individual projects to those qualified who can be provided with tools, jigs for their intended projects.

Gonzales also clarified that beneficiaries of the Department of Social Welfare and development’s (DSWD) 4Ps and government workers including those at the Local  Government Unirs (LGUs) are NOT eligible to avail the program. ### With Report from Renalyn Alano of PFO Cam Norte./ISO PR Code:2020_gud_Jan_19_ Kabuhayan for 75 laid-off workers in Cam Norte
