Over 25.000 workers in Bicol Benefit from DOLE CAMP

Legazpi City, Albay – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Bicol announced today, that a total of 24,559 workers in the private sector were given financial assistance from DOLE COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP).

Regional Director Joel M. Gonzales said that CAMP financial assistance was given in two batches amounting to P127,795,000.00.

“The first batch was already received by 7,559 workers or 435 establishments across the region. We were able to release the amount of P37,795,000.00 to the affected workers in April. On the other hand, we have started releasing the CAMP aid for the second or final batch since April 27. A total of 18,000 workers or 1,013 establishments in Bicol region were extended the cash assistance amounting to P90 million.”

CAMP is a one-time cash assistance for displaced workers in the formal sector amounting to P5,000. The application for this program was cut-off last April 15, 2020 given that the remaining fund is no longer sufficient to accommodate the volume of requests coming from private establishments.

As of May 4, 2020, there are 147,600 affected workers or 7,896 establishments that applied to DOLE Bicol CAMP. However, with limited budget, only 17.32% or 25,559 affected workers were given financial assistance.

RD Gonzales said with regret that not all CAMP applications received by the Office were granted.

“We apologize if we cannot provide the P5,000 financial assistance to your workers, but we are doing our best to coordinate with the Department of Finance in the hope that they can accommodate your application under their program,” he added.

“What we have done so far is by continuously sending out email informing CAMP applicants that were not accommodated to apply for the DOF’s SWBS while providing the procedure on how to directly apply under the said program.”

Meanwhile, DOLE Bicol is continuously processing the payment for the workers in the final batch.

Some of the beneficiaries were able to claim the P5,000 thru MLhuillier and bank account.

“It is a big help for us as we continue to strive and help our cooperators amidst this pandemic,” quoted from HOPE-MPC FB page.

“Sobrang hindi ko inaasahan na isa ako sa makaka-avail ng P5K sa CAMP. I’m very grateful na sa daming workers around Bicol areas, isa ako sa natanggap. Sobrang malaking tulong s aming mahihirap na makakadagdag sa pang araw-araw na gastusin,” said Renan Olivares of LCC Supermarket Legazpi in his FB post.

“Salamat po  DOLE Bicol. Na timing man pati sa birthday ko. Worth the wait!,” posted by Mae-Ann_Esperida-Jacob of CamSur Multi-Purpose Cooperative.

“Thank you DOLE Bicol! JPY Juan and our employees are grateful for the hardwork and effort in releasing the cash assistance thru CAMP. God bless to all of you and please stay safe and healthy,” posted on JPY Juan FB Page./ISO PR Code:2020_gud_May_7_ Over 25,000 workers in Bicol benefit from DOLE CAMP
