Kabuhayan starter kits for CL's parents

Camarines Norte - By the end of 3rd quarter for CY 2020, the Department of Labor and Employment through its Camarines Norte Provincial Field Office (CNFO) was able to provide livelihood assistance to 51 parents of child laborers (CLs) or an equivalent of 98% from its annual target of 52 beneficiaries.

The fund grant amounting P802,287.50 in the form of tools and equipment was received by the beneficiaries intended to support the promotion of locally produced food products like native delicacies or kakanin.

Others shall engage in food delivery with their newly acquired bicycle with side car.

Assistance provided was the Agency's continuous intervention to end child labor in the municipalities of Jose Panganiban, Labo and Paracale under the Child Labor Elimination Program in the province.

"We never lose faith in our endeavors to protect and promote the welfare of our chidren — that unless we provide decent jobs through sustainable livelihood, we can all end child labor,” said Camarines Norte Provincial Director Engr. Arturo P. Corbe.

Regional Director Joel M. Gonzales said that after profiling of child laborers in the said province, DOLE has referred them to different government agencies and various organizations for appropriate interventions, not just for the children but also to the family members.

As such, DOLE provided them with new source of income in the form of starter kits under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP)

“This has been the efforts of the Labor in pushing for more inclusive and appropriate interventions in stopping child labor,” he ended.

The project was directly administered by DOLE CNFO with the assistance extended by partner barangays in facilitating the individual application of the beneficiaries and supervision in the completion of their requirements ./ISO PR Code:2020_gud_October_6_Kabuhayan starter kits for L’s parents
