The fund given to Barangay Malaya was for the implementation of agricultural production project of its assisted group, which is the Magkamatao Small Scale Miners Association. While the remaining five barangays, fund assistance was intended for the purchase of package of livelihood kits, tools and equipments for food processing and service.

According to Ms Jane Rolda, Technical Support Service Division (TSSD) Chief (former Camarines Norte Provincial Director), the fund assistance is the Agency’s commitment as a member of the Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and Employment Cluster which is aimed at providing equal opportunities to our marginalized workers to engage into emergency employment and viable livelihoods that will address local armed conflicts.

“Thus, this will achieve sustainable peace and development in Geographically Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAS),” she added.

GIDAs were barangays were visited during the Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) or Barangayan, Serbisyo Caravan.

Regional Director Joel M. Gonzales said that in order to achieve the “whole-of-nation" approach or the Executive Order 70 to end local communist armed conflict, governments agencies should come together to provide appropriate interventions.

He added that the awarded livelihood package to beneficiaries in GIDAs in Cam Norte will help alleviate poverty and the increasing rate on job displacement following the quarantine that has been imposed in the country due to COVID-19 pandemic.

“We look forward that the livelihood packages granted shall bring confident hope in you. With great deal of efforts and determination you have shown to improve your lives, in your own small prudent steps, all shall bring peace and abundance within yourselves and to your entire community,” RD Gonzales said in his message to the beneficiaries.

He stressed: “I-nurture ninyo ang munting tulong ng DOLE and it shall go a long way and grow.
