Bello pays TUPAD wages in Catanduanes

Bato, Catanduanes (November 10, 2020) - Labor Secretary Silvestre H. Bello, III visited displaced workers in the informal sector after the onslaught of super typhoon Rolly that hit the island-province early this week.

Bello personally handed to 52 worker-beneficiaries their hard-earned wages for a 16-day cleanup drive in their community.

Under DOLE’s Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD), each beneficiary received P310 per day.

As initial payment, they received wages today amounting to P2,500. After completion of their works, they will receive another P2,500.

These beneficiaries were provided with personal protective equipment sets and enrolled under the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS).

Moreover, profiling of beneficiaries and payout of wages are still ongoing as DOLE committed to provide emergency employment to at least 5,000 workers in Catanduanes.

The TUPAD Program is part of DOLE’s aim to intensify the implementation of its programs and services in the region amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
