Over 1k jobs up for grabs on DOLE Job, Trade Fair, Skills Profiling in Masbate


Mobo, Masbate— Following the economic challenges brought by the oil price hike, and the pandemic, crippling the region’s labor force, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Bicol thru its Masbate Provincial Field Office held a three (3)-day face-to-face Job and Trade Fair and Skill Profiling, in conjunction with the Grand Opening of Mobo Business Center in Masbate last week, March 18, 2022.

With the theme “Trabaho, Negosyo an Tunay na Asenso san Mobo”, aims to equip job seekers with employment or entrepreneurial opportunities thru the "Trabaho" and "Negosyo" components which mainly focused on local employments and entrepreneurship from DOLE Bicol, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-assisted associations or entrepreneurs, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).


Over 1,154 work opportunities offered by 17 local employers including Oppo, Cignal & Satellite, Converge, Globe, PLDT, Smart, I Promote, Mandalagan Commodities Inc., Des Marketing Inc., New Staple Marketing, Twinpeak Marketing, DMCI, Maselco, MMWD, Prycegas, Bituon Beach Resort, and Danielas Swimming Pool, were up for grab to eager job searchers through a limited face-to-face job fair in the new normal conducted at the Mobo Business Center in Brgy. Lalaguna, Mobo, Masbate, where around 458 applicants flocked.



Out of 458 applicants, at least 88 of them have passed the evaluation process, in which 57 applicants were hired on the spot (HOTS), while 31 others were considered hired but needed more assessment to fully qualify for the position they applied for.


Regional Director Ma. Zenaida A. Angara-Campita amplifies that the return of the face-to-face job fair is a concrete action of the department’s unwavering commitment to provide decent and productive employment to every Bicolano worker through program partners and local employers.


“Ang Job Fair Program ng DOLE ay sumasalamin lamang po sa patuloy na pagtataguyod namin ng maayos at disenteng empleyo na magbibigay oportunidad sa mga naghahanap ng trabaho. Para sa kapakanan at ikabubuti ng estado ng kanilang pamumuhay at nang sa gayon ay maging parte rin sila ng pagsulong ng ekonomiya upang makabangon muli sa malawakang krisis na kinakaharap ng buong Bicol region,” RD Campita stated.


DOLE MPFO, in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) and Public Employment Services Office (PESO) of Mobo, joined forces on the job fair facilitation to easily assist applicants, while TESDA and DTI catered to interested individuals to gain skills in Carpentry NC II, Driving NC II, and series of business and financial management workshops, respectively.


Ma. Victoria Lalaguna, a 36-year-old single mother whose career has been affected by the COVID-19 outbreak, took advantage of the opportunity to visit the physical location and apply for any vacant positions.


“Naga pasalamat po ako na nagkaigwa san Job Fair didi sa Mobo, Masbate. Malaking tulong po ito sa amin lalong-lalo na saakin na nawalan ng trabaho dahil sa pandemya, pamaagi sani na Job Fair nagkaigwa na ako san trabaho na dugay ko na inahanap. Damo po nasalamat sainyo.” 

DOLE Bicol aims to provide opportunities and to serve workers, employers, and job seekers not just in Masbate provinces but also across the other five (5) provinces including Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes and Masbate for the overall economic growth and recovery of the Bicol region. ###
