Camarines Norte - The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Bicol through its Camarines Norte Provincial Office participated in the service caravan and solution-seeking dialogue for the youth spearheaded by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) on Tuesday in Labo, Camarines Norte.

The activities aim to educate the youth about the government’s effort to address several issues in the community and how their respective sectors could be properly represented in government decision-making, formulation of policies and implementation of projects and services, among others.

Through this initiative, DOLE offered various programs and services such as livelihood program, Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD), Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES), Government Internship Program (GIP), and registration of rural workers. Aside from the distribution of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials, participating youth were also oriented on the said programs, including its requirements for eligibility.

Ms. Cherry B. Mosatalla, CNPO Provincial Head, addressed issues on child labor raised by the youth during the “Solution-Seeking Dialogue” activity.

She discussed the different strategies of DOLE in the prevention and elimination of child labor such as  profiling of child laborers and their referral to appropriate government agencies.

She also mentioned the provision of livelihood assistance to parents of child laborers which aims to augment family income and uplift the standards of their living.

On the issue of job mismatch, Ms. Mosatalla also discussed the career guidance advocacies conducted by the academe and the job fair activities sponsored by the Public and Employment Service Offices (PESO) of all the Local Government Units (LGUs) as active partner agencies in our employment facilitation program.
