Camarines Sur - The labor department continues to accelerate the provision of employment support for informal workers in the province of Camarines Sur as it recently undertook a three-day cash payout of its flagship TUPAD (Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers) in various towns of this province.

Around 1,313 workers benefitted from the cash payout events, amounting to PhP4.9 million which were held in Iriga City, Magarao, and Garchitorena towns in Camarines Sur.

The beneficiaries from said municipalities, each received a salary of PhP3,650 as payment for services rendered for 10 days. While 142 beneficiaries in Magarao received PhP5,475 each for the 15-day work rendered. They were also provided with personal protective equipment (PPE), GSIS insurance, and other supplies.

Ma. Ella E. Verano, Camarines Sur Provincial Director said that TUPAD projects will continue to provide emergency employment assistance to the informal workers who have lost their employment or livelihood due to economic crisis, specifically in remote areas of the province.

Verano said the TUPAD beneficiaries rendered 10 to 15 days of community work in their barangays, such as cleaning and disinfection and greening and tree planting activities.

Meanwhile, DOLE Cam Sur conducted simultaneous orientations with beneficiaries to ensure that they are properly informed on the implementing guidelines of the program.

A total of 919 worker-beneficiaries from Canaman, Calabanga, Pili, and Camaligan underwent orientations on February 3 and 6, 2023.

They were also oriented on the Group Personal Accident Insurance (GPAI) to inform them of the coverage and duration of their insurance.

TUPAD program provides temporary employment to displaced workers, underemployed, and seasonal workers.
