Camarines Norte - Attended by over 50 employers/workers from members of the Industry Tripartite Council in the Retail and Service, Construction, Education and Hotel and Restaurants in the province of Camarines Norte, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Bicol in partnership with the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) provided a seminar/orientation on the topics on LEAN Management, Facility Evaluation, Occupational Safety and Health and General Labor Standards on Friday at Wiltan Hotel, Daet, Camarines Norte.
Resource speakers from the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board, Occupational Safety and Health, and Department of Labor and Employment provided lectures and workshops on the pillars of productivity on the topic of LEAN Management. On workplace safety and health, the speaker identified safety and health hazards; roles of safety officers; hazard identification, risk assessment, and control; work environment measurement; development of control measures; accident causation and investigation; OSH program development; and workplace emergency preparedness.
Further, speakers from the DOLE presented topics on General Labor Standards including entitlement to basic workers’ rights and their monetary benefits, employer-employee relationships, and termination of employment.
At the end of the learning session, participants were tasked to submit their individual action plans on their proposed improvements to existing processes and systems and occupational safety and health.
PFO Head of the DOLE Camarines Norte Provincial Office, Ms. Cherry B. Mosatalla, shared with the participants the importance of this initiative in attaining the agency’s mission. “It is our aspiration that while we protect and promote their (workers) rights they must give back to their employers through their increased productivity. Also, we wanted to cultivate among our employers a higher level of compliance with the general labor standards. By sustaining this effort, we will maintain harmonious relations and enjoyment of a mutually beneficial atmosphere between workers and management.”
